The Floating Action Button (FAB) is designed to give you quick access to Lean Library features without intrusively interrupt your research workflow with a square pop-up.
The FAB button will appear on the middle-right side of your screen after you have installed the Lean Library browser extension. This button appears by default.
What is Floating Action Button?
The Floating Action Button (FAB) provides you access to Lean Library while browsing academic content. Instead of seeing pop-ups, you will now navigate Lean Library with this button.
The redesigned FAB appears around the middle-right side of the webpage with your institute's logo. Depending on how your library configured Lean Library, expanding the Side Tray may provide access to:
- Access to an articles or academic website
- Research integrity information with Signals and Scite.ai
- One-Click PDF

How to adjust Floating Action Button settings?
Here are some settings available for you to customise the button:
- Collapse and expand the button
- Pause, block the button on this specific site
- Check the list of blocked websites
- Pin the Side Tray
Collapse and expand the button
You can collapse the Floating Action Button to save space on the webpage, or expand it again whenever you want to use Lean Library’s features. Clicking the arrow (as circled) to do so.
Pause, block the button on this specific site
You will see the settings icon when you hover above the FAB icon. This will allow you further configuration options to pause, block the FAB on this specific site and change setting on the extension.
Check the list of blocked websites
You can check the blocked site list for your FAB button in the extension setting, this is also where you can unblock any domains.
Pin the Side Tray
If you want the side tray to be pinned. This means the Side Tray will remain open while you continue browsing on the webpage until you un-pin it.
