When your 30-day trial ends, or your personal or institutional subscription lapses, your account automatically moves to the free Basic subscription.
You retain access to your existing work, with some restrictions on features and creating new projects.
Will I lose my existing work?
You retain access to your existing projects, references, notes and tags.
You also keep access to shared projects unless you leave or another member removes you. You do not need to delete existing projects simply because your account moves to Basic.
What can I continue using?
You can continue using the Workspace website, browser extension, and Word and Google Docs citation tools, subject to Basic restrictions.
You can also change your account email address if you did not register using Google or Facebook.
What restrictions apply on Basic?
- Projects: You can create up to 3 projects. If you already have 3 or more, you retain access to them and can rename them, but cannot create another until you are below the limit.
- Shared-project invitations: You can send up to 3 invitations per shared project.
- Suggestions: Article suggestions and smart citation suggestions are unavailable.
- Cloud PDF uploads: You cannot upload PDFs from Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive.

Can I export my references and PDFs?
Yes. You can export reference metadata in BibTeX, RIS or CSV format. You can also export PDFs.
What if my institution’s subscription ends?
Your account moves to Basic, and the same access and restrictions described above apply.
If your team wants to continue using Premium features, a group subscription may be an option.
