If you are trying to troubleshoot the Format citations and bibliography button not formatting your newly added citation, we would recommend you try:
- First, please copy the document to a new one
- Now delete all your bibliography
- Click Format citations and bibliography again to re-generate all the references that is on your document
However, if this does still not work and you wish to remove all in-text citation as an escalated step, please see the instruction below to bulk delete your in-text citation.
How to remove in-text citation
- Copy your original document to a NEW document
- Open your NEW document and go to Editing > Find > Advanced (Windows) or Edit > Find > Advanced Find & Replace (Mac)
- A Find & Replace window will appear
- Go to the Replace tab and under More (Windows) or Search (Mac), please select Use wildcard
- Put \(*\) in Find and leave the Replace empty
- Click Replace All
- This will now remove all the in-text citations
How to remove the spacing between the deleted in-text citation and the full stop
- Open the basic Find & Replace window using shortcut Ctrl + H (Windows) or Command + Shift + H (Mac)
- Put an empty space and a full stop in the search box
